The others in that shoot out don't concern me as I'm not about to buy MORE plugs to do a simple job when these work great. I've not tested UAD and I won't be testing/buying VBC either. Duende was the sweet spot between the 3 of them. Duende is more transparent but still glues, it's like a cross between 'the glue' (which is very transparent and clean but not what I want), and the waves Bus comp (which collapses the mix too easily and makes it sound harsh and digital - in a bad way). It was ****ing my mixes up even with just -2 to -3 db gain reduction. The bus comp especially is worse than the Duende version. What is gonna change that? I own both plugs and can test them any time. I have tested waves bus comp vs Duende bus comp on my OWN material under my own conditions and I prefer Duende. I also recently moved from waves CLA comp pack to NI(Softube) comps with similar results - less harsh, smoother response, better from knob box.ДЄctually following the CS's own comp for quick transients with the NI VC2A for smoothing, or VC76 for drums after the CS (with drumstrip sometimes too) is a really easy workflow for great results. Also I much prefer the horizontal layout as it ties up with my remote zero knob box great (though I often turn the monitor off anyway and mix from the remote). As for the CS - I think waves is more aggressive and easy to overdo - SSL needs more of a push, has more resolution perhaps and just feels more musical, smoother. Bus comp was clearer less harsh with Duende vs Waves (waves often made my mixes sound really fkd up! I didn't even hear that until I went duende!) but A/Bing quite mixdown snippets the SSL bus comp won it easily.

Yeah they model a different desk but I don't care what any of them model or have code taken from I see how they improve workflow, how they feel, how they sound. They sounder way less smooth, harsher, edgier. and ask for a quick demo of the real thing.just so you know what it is like.i never did!.so it has taken a long time for me to like SSL as just turning everything on and everything 'up' sounds pretty crap.Дid you compare the CS to the alternatives by Waves and UAD? Just curious.I used to use waves (CS and Bus comp) for me they are nowhere near the Duende. though i use the channel strip more often.i have found it a long process to understand classic SSL compression.a good idea might be to go to a good store.like KMR. SSL plugin channel strip and comp'?.Love em!.

that ''less is more''.though if you hang round here it is likely that you will develop an unhealthy addiction to audio plugins!.be warned.be not in a hurry to own everything right now.!

Never buy a plugin that is not 64 bit ready as it will be annoying in the end.ДЄlso remeber if you can. My advice would be to always look at any potential plugin purchase for 64 bit compatibility.

I have heard great things about these plugins, but I wanted to see what you guys think?. I am looking to buy the SSL Duende plugins (the EQ & Dynamics channel strip, and also the Stereo Bus Compressor) which would cost around ВЈ300. Looking to buy some plugins, and it would be great to get some advice.
